The cooling system is made up of components to keep the
engine from overheating by transferring the heat to air. Another important job
of the cooling system is to allow the engine to heat up and then run the engine
at a consistent temperature; passageways inside the engine block and heads
achieve this with some plumbing containing interconnecting hoses, a water pump
to circulate the coolant, a thermostat to control the temperature of the
coolant, a radiator to cool the coolant and a radiator cap to control the
pressure in the system.
